You are wondering how to clear your mind from all negative thoughts? Its easier said than done but the truth is: There are plenty of opportunities out there! You just need to know where to start looking...
You need to clear your mind?
Here is how to relax body and soul
Before you start reading through our list I highly recommend you to watch the below video and listen to the words of Alan Wats. The English philosopher talks in "The Mind" about the phenomenon of worrying too much. While you are stressing out about how to clear your mind maybe all you need to do is... stop thinking!
So in the same way as a muddy turbulent pool quiets itself when left alone, you have to know how to leave your mind alone.
It will quiet itself.
This might sound stupid but it is really hard nowadays with all the media distraction to just clear your mind and relax your body. Its a real talent to just close your eyes and leave your mind alone.
Watch the video to get inspired and try out our methods below and you might be one step closer to your inner piece and happiness!
If you don't know how to clear your mind and get your thoughts together - Distraction could be the right approach for you.
Doing the same routine over and over again wont bring you very far. Sometimes you need to get out of your habits and distract yourself with something totally unrelated. Start a new hobby, meet up with friends or take your dog for a walk. Everything that keeps you away from the source of your problem!
Organize your thoughts
Or you could do the opposite of distraction. Instead of trying to escape your problem - try to find it, face it and fix it! Its like going to a doctors visit. Its a lot easier to give you the right medication if you know where it hurts. Of course the human body and especially your mind is a very complex system so finding the source of your problem is not that easy.
Start Slowly - try to narrow your life down into categories. Friends, Family, Job, School... Now think about all the people, situations and events that define each of these categories in your life. Its a good way to get your thoughts organized this way. You'll get an overview of who is affecting your life. The only thing left to do is investigate the reason for your stress!
Talk it out
Surrounding yourself with people who love and respect you is very important. If you have a healthy social life - everything else is going to be easier as well.
But the sad truth is: Even small changes or disappointments can drag us down even harder.
You are in a fight with one of your loved ones? All the yoga and meditation in this world won't heal your wounds if you don't get together and talk. If you keep procrastinating an important conversation it will remain stuck in your head. And you won't be able to fully relax your mind and body.
Laugh it out
You had no idea how healthy laughing could be until now! And its a great way to distract your brain, relax your muscles and clear your mind completely!
Here are some of the facts about laughing:
- Boosts the immune system
- Increases number of activated natural virus killing cells
- Reduces stress-related hormones
- Raises heart rate
- Exercises and relaxes muscles
- Improves respiration
- Stimulates Circulation
- Enhances mental functioning

Meditation is a practice used by a person to bring its mind into a mode of consciousness. There are surely various different definitions out there and uncountable books about the history of meditation. Definitely too much to cover in a small paragraph of this post.

Are you breathing correctly? This is not a trick question, it can have a major impact on your life! There are certain techniques that you can use to relax in 10 minutes or less. All you need is you own lungs.
Here is one out of 6 breathing exercises that can be found on GREATIST:
Abdominal Breathing Technique
How it’s done: With one hand on the chest and the other on the belly, take a deep breath in through the nose, ensuring the diaphragm (not the chest) inflates with enough air to create a stretch in the lungs. The goal: Six to 10 deep, slow breaths per minute for 10 minutes each day to experience immediate reductions to heart rate and blood pressure, McConnell says. Keep at it for six to eight weeks, and those benefits might stick around even longer.
When it works best: Before an exam or any stressful event. But keep in mind, “Those who operate in a stressed state all the time might be a little shocked how hard it is to control the breath,” Pacheco says. To help train the breath, consider biofeedback tools such as McConnell’s Breathe Strong app, which can help users pace their breathing wherever they are.
Level of difficulty: Beginner

Progressive Muscle Relaxation
According to Wikipedia: "Progressive muscle relaxation is a technique for learning to monitor and control the state of muscular tension. It was developed by American physician Edmund Jacobson in the early 1920s. The technique involves learning to monitor tension in each specific muscle group in the body by deliberately inducing tension in each group. This tension is then released, with attention paid to the contrast between tension and relaxation"
